Flourish

In the age of AI, what conditions are needed for a human to truly flourish? From the ice baths of Norway to the deserts of the Middle East, this documentary series follows a landmark global study to dozens of countries to answer that question.
The Global Flourishing Study is a partnership between Harvard’s Human Flourishing Program, Baylor University’s Institute for Studies of Religion, Gallup and the Center for Open Science. It follows more than 200,000 people across 22 countries on all six populated continents, measuring wellbeing across happiness and life satisfaction, health, meaning and purpose, character, close relationships, and financial stability.
Its first findings upend a few assumptions. Richer countries do not necessarily flourish more: many middle-income nations score higher on meaning, purpose and close relationships, while young adults in much of the world report the lowest wellbeing of any age group.
The series starts with those numbers and goes looking for the people behind them, asking what a good life looks like as technology reshapes how we work, connect and find meaning.
